A Hearty Good Day to You!
Hi! My name’s Caitlin, and I’m a proud thrifty gal! I’m also into weightlifting, socializing, soccer, financial independence, and finding ways to become happier on a daily basis.
Welcome one and all to Secondhand Thoughts, a blog dedicated to musing about what it means to be a “responsible adult”. I am a thirty-something woman living in Vancouver, Canada, and I am still very much in the learning process figuring out what the hell it is I am supposed to be doing in life.
I lived in Scotland for six years after meeting my husband there. I thought gallivanting through Europe would only entail some delightful conquests and then a return home to normality, but instead I ended up staying, earning a teaching degree and developing a questionable accent to boot.
But still, thoughts were nagging at me: I’m supposed to be “grown up” at this point in my life, but what the hell does that even mean? I sure don’t have a clue, and looking around many of my peers don’t either.
After discovering that personal finance blogs were actually enjoyable, I devoured as many as I could and set out on a FIRE rampage. I am working towards it as fast as I can, and having a blast doing so. I am also realizing that I am no longer 16 years old, and need to find ways to not destroy myself through lifestyle choices. This site here is my accountability, written for all to see, and a chance for me to practise writing in something that is not text speak or dry academia, but somewhere in the middle.
So feel free to peruse this tiny site to your heart’s content. Any questions, comments or thoughts? Let me know (but don’t be a dick).
**Also, this site is very much a work in progress because I have no idea what I am doing. Please bear with me while I figure it out!
